If you are interested in visual literacy there is an excellent article with examples by Jamie McKenzie at: http://fno.org/oct05/images.html
Montgomery County Bike Paths Map Viewer – I found this on the Montgomery County Library site under online services! Click and drag a rectangle on the map to expand that portion of the map. http://gis.montgomerycountymd.gov/ims/bikeways/viewer.htm

Using the “Help” box in any application: All Microsoft Office programs have a box in the upper right corner that can give you help. Just type the item into the box that you need help with, and after a few moments you’ll get a menu of choices—choose the best choice that describes the kind of help you’re looking for. Most other applications have a “Help” menu item.
Save time grading essays: Set up your own custom comments in Word to help correct students’ grammar, punctuation, etc.

In Microsoft Word, go to Tools à Auto Correct.
Type your code in the left under the word “Replace”, and then the comment you want it to stand for on the right under the word “With”
For example…
…on the left type "cs" and in the text field on the right type: "You have committed a comma splice in this sentence. A comma splice occurs when two separate independent sentences are joined with only a comma."
Click the OK button to save it. Now anytime in MS Word you type "cs" and then hit the space bar those two sentences will appear. You can use Auto-Correct to add all sorts of custom comments on punctuation, spelling, grammar, topic sentences, paragraph structure, and the like. This can cut essay grading time significantly!
Unsending emails: Sorry, Outlook does not do a good job of un-sending email. There is the ability to do a “message recall” within Norwood, but for any messages that have gone out to other email addresses (like parents) there is no “un-send.” So check your message and the addresses twice before hitting the “Send” button! Directions for doing a “message recall” (only for within Norwood): are at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA010917601033.aspx (I found these by typing “recall” into the HELP box as noted above)
