In this edition:

¡¤        Adding a Google Toolbar to your web browser

¡¤        Turning on AutoPlay feature of your CD Drive

¡¤        Inserting Symbols into a document

¡¤        Cable in the Classroom

¡¤         Certificate Templates

Google Toolbar

Google has become the predominant search engine. I use it so often that I added their toolbar (pictured below) to my web browser. Now it¡¯s always there, no matter what web site I am at. If you would like to add it also, just visit http://toolbar.google.com/ and follow the installation directions.

Some of the neat features are the ability to search a web site you are visiting (instead of searching the entire Web); and you can also see what web sites link to the page you are visiting (under Page Info).

Inserting Symbols (¨¢¨¨¨º©¡Ü¡İ¡Ç¡Ş) into a document

Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. share a common menu item for inserting symbols. Just go to ¡°Insert¡ Symbol¡± and then choose the character or symbol you want. Click the ¡°Insert¡± button, then click ¡°Close.¡± You can also copy & paste symbols, once you¡¯ve inserted them.

Cable in the Classroom

The site http://www.ciconline.com has information including a taping calendar that provides a schedule of programs that may be taped for educational use.  The Cable in the Classroom site: http://www.cableducation.ca/ has lesson planning ideas as well as program guides. The TV Guide web site is also a quick and easy way to get program listings: http://www.tvguide.com/.

Certificate Templates

Microsoft has several pre-designed certificates which you can access at the URL address below. Some are Word documents, and others are PowerPoint documents, but you can print them all. There are also many certificate templates in Microsoft Publisher.
(see
Tech Tips #8 for info on Microsoft Publisher).
