Windows Movie Maker 2 is a free download from Microsoft. The other program Norwood uses is Pinnacle Studio.

The main thing to know how to do is to be able to trim out un-needed footage either by taking it off either end of a clip, or by taking it out of the middle of a clip (by splitting the clip and then trimming the start/end of resulting two clips)
