  1. Sort your Start Menu programs list alphabetically.

  2. Arrange your Task Bar (add QuickLaunch bar) to suit your needs.

  3. Turn off personalized menus in Word and other Office applications.

  4. Change your default folder view to suit your preference - I recommend "Details" view.

  5. Install the Google Toolbar for easy Internet searching and to block pop-ups.

  6. Work with multiple windows: Alt-Tab to toggle between windows.

  7. Change your system-wide default click vs. double-click to suit your preference.
    I recommend "Single-Click" because this matches the way web pages work.

  8. Customize your Start menu, Desktop, and Quick-Launch bar to suit your needs.

  9. On desktop computers make sure your screen resolution is correct.

  10. Learn to use keyboard shortcuts and special ways of clicking and dragging for common tasks.

  11. If you use save music on your computer, make sure it's on your C drive or storage directory. Change the default location that music programs use.
